Itch // ink bomb studios // awol

BBA catches Itch, a melbourne- graffiti inspired artist whose been bombing ink around town for generations... spreading the expressions of his mind which most could only begin imagine. Itch brings these expressions & ideas to life giving us a a peak into the rich landscape of his imagination.

 

Who/what are you earliest artistic influences?

Dali, James Gleeson, Klimpt, Exit KOC, Dash TFC, Venosa, H.R.Giger,
Simon Bisley, Joe Madiera

What was your first exhibition?

it would of been a street art group show in Newcastle

What keep you busy outside of art?

I make psychedelic music thats a bit of mix of bass heavy breakcore, progrock and idm, gives me a chance to flex my guitar & throatsinging skills too..i tattoo as well but guess that come under the art banner :P

Any place around the world that you rate as the place to be for art/street influence art at present?

Melbourne, Berlin, NY and LA seem to be holding it down pretty well, theres some dope stuff coming out of the uk too.

Most rewarding exhibition of your's to date?

Exhibiting alongside Alex Grey this year was awesome & the AWOL crew installation at the NGV would be my highlight for the year

its a very sporadic relationship

Favourite Place for a live paint session ?

Abandoned buildings

What does the local art scene need right now?

Live art/music crossovers, massive graffiti productions..

What does it need less of?

Circle jerks & intellectual posturing :)

My van pumping dubstup out next to a deserted wall

Redbull Wreckers Yard, Australasian Finals -:- The Evelyn

All time favourite artist and why?

James Gleeson, he ripped the veil between this world and the next
and pulled forth lucid visions for those unable to glimpse for themselves.RIP

Shpongle/Simon Posford, he rips the veil between this world and the next
and pulls forth lucid soundscapes for those unable to hear for themselves.
